An Afternoon in Yoho National Park | British Columbia, Canada

Written by Brian Callender | Photography by Julie Boyd Fresh off an awesome hike to the Plain of Six Glaciers, we still had several hours of sunlight left to explore the area before sunset. Julie had come across Takakkaw Falls while researching the trip, and […]

Time Travel Tuesday | Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Moraine Lake | Banff, Canada

Moraine Lake | Banff, Canada

As we planned out our Canadian adventure, Julie and I each had a long list of “must visit” locations. Many of these destinations were shared, and that was especially true of Moraine Lake. If you spend any time on Instagram (including ours) these days, there’s a good chance you’ve seen photos of Moraine Lake pop up, and the images are always stunning. Spending just a few minutes there, it’s not hard to see why this place is an absolute gem!

Time Travel Tuesday | Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Finding Time to Travel with a Full Time Job

Finding Time to Travel with a Full Time Job

Written by Brian Callender | Photography by Julie Boyd

Julie and I love to travel which should come as no surprise,  after all, it’s why we started this travel blog. We love sharing our experiences, and hope that we can encourage more people to get out there and explore the world!

One of the most common issues we’ve come across when planning our trips, is how to schedule around our work commitments. We both have full time jobs which are our primary focus (bills have to get paid!), so we often need to get creative and plan our vacations well in advance. Life is all about finding balance, right? In particular, Julie’s teaching schedule is such that we have two open periods for longer trips. Summer, the peak and busiest of travel seasons. And winter, where depending on the destination, there’s a chance you may encounter some rough weather. The key for us, is making the most of every available opportunity to travel, no matter the size of the trip. Here’s how we do that.

Day Trip to the Cliffs of Moher | Ireland

A Day in Brussels | Belgium

A Day in Brussels | Belgium

Written by Brian Callender | Photography by Julie Boyd & Brian Callender

Belgium was, admittedly, a late addition to our itinerary. We had planned to visit the British Isles, but not the continent of Europe on this particular trip. However, having already been to the three countries on our agenda, I was eager to see a new place. With only a short window of time to visit, we needed somewhere that was in close proximity to London, so Belgium won out over Paris as our choice. Julie was quickly sold on the idea by way of the country’s well known exports: chocolate, waffles, beer, and fries.

Last Days in London | England

Last Days in London | England

After a very late night in Oxford, we slept in a bit on Friday morning before heading out to soak up the rest of our time in London. To say that we were ecstatic to have the Tube back up and running would be a […]

Weekend Getaway – San Diego

Weekend Getaway – San Diego

I’ve said this before, but it’s worth repeating…mini vacations are what keep those of us who don’t get to take many trips, throughly sane. Or at least partially sane with those busy work weeks! A little over a month ago, Julie and I planned a […]

Mini Vacation Part Two – Monterey

Mini Vacation Part Two – Monterey

I absolutely love Monterey and was excited to visit the city again two years after our first trip. In 2012, we stopped in Monterey as part of a longer trip up the coast and we spent very little time getting to know the city. Other than our day trip to Big Sur, we had no concrete plans for the duration of our visit. While I love to plan and make trips detailed and organized, it’s also good from time to time to just wing it and go with the flow.
