We’re currently in the midst of a Southern California winter, which means short periods of rain mixed with the usual sunshine and cooler nights. While we have seen more rain this year than has come in quite a while, we know that many others are digging out of snow and much chillier temperatures. For us, it’s our favorite time of year, and an opportunity to break out the jackets, sweatshirts, hot chocolate, and snowboards! 2016: Twelve Months of Exploring

2016 has certainly been a memorable year for us, as we shared a number of new adventures that inspired us to get out and explore. We visited four countries, checked a number of items off the bucket list, got engaged in Yosemite, turned this blog into a joint venture, and many more. And while, like everyone, the year has provided some unexpected bumps, we had a fantastic time exploring new destinations and are excited for what 2017 has in store!

Seven Photos to Inspire you to go to Jasper National Park | Alberta, Canada

Jasper National Park has a rugged beauty that calls to be explored. It is Canada’s largest National Park, and is home to some pretty epic scenery, including giant glaciers, thundering waterfalls, and quiet alpine forests. Brian and I spent three days in Jasper over the summer, and are itching to go back for a more extended period. In the meantime, we thought we would share some of our favorite photos from the trip. Enjoy!

Mt. Edith Cavell and Angel Glacier | Jasper National Park | Alberta, Canada

On Friday morning, we awoke early for our final full day in Canada. Before making the long drive back to Calgary in preparation for our flight on Saturday morning, we wanted to make the most of our remaining time in such a beautiful place! After a quick snack at our hotel, we packed up our little Volkswagen, and hit the road headed for Mt. Edith Cavell and Angel Glacier. From Jasper, the drive is about 40 minutes, much of which is on a windy mountain road. Lined with trees and mountain views, the drive is also a beautiful one!

Exploring Jasper National Park | Alberta, Canada

After completing a full day of driving along the Icefields Parkway, (read: part one and part two) it felt amazing to drop our bags off at the hotel, shower, and head into town for dinner. While the city of Banff was crowded with tourists roaming its streets, Jasper had a more relaxed vibe. Walking through the quaint town streets, we eventually decided on pizza at Famoso Neapolitan Pizza. Between all the walking and driving that day, pizza and beer was a well deserved meal! The next morning, we set out to explore Jasper National Park.
